a gamechanger for warfighters

The Revolution-X (aka REV-X) was the brainchild of a US Military Special Operations client desiring a headset that could provide two forms of radio receive audio, having no over-the-ear cups which, in turn,  could provide ventilation and personal situational and directional awareness on demand, and could be exposed in up to 5 meters of salt/freshwater submersion for up to one hour, all of which could be worn comfortably under a helmet for extended periods of time. This tall demand signal resulted in a complete re-set of how a tactical headset should be designed and perform – all further complicated with an above-industry standard expectation related to water exposure and submersion. The complicated nature of the REV-X resulted in a near 3-year trial and error development project with multiple iterations being jumped, swam and put through a variety of ground-based operations by the client.

our Tech

The REV-X Focused Audio Speakers located on the internal side of the front headset stanchions of the headset – directly in front of the wearer’s ears. As mentioned previously, this radio./ICS mode of reception allows the operator to maintain unencumbered situational and directional awareness plus the open architecture of the REV-X design affords the wearer the opportunity to allow both sides of the head and about the face to be ventilated.

focused

audio

The most intriguing feature of the REV-X is the fact there are TWO radio/ICS communication modes. Firstly, the REV-X offers the end-user the ability to utilize state-of-the-art electronic earpieces that provide incoming radio comms, electronic hearing protection and environmental, ambient reproduction. The REV-X offers 4 different ear tip options including OSFM, both silicone and foam (S-L) as well as custom earmolds. When not in use, the ear tips are held in place securely via strategically built in magnets in both the earpiece housings and the rear stanchions of the headset directly behind the ear where they can be stowed away securely without having to have “eyes on” to do so. With the push of a button located on the right, front side of the headset, the electronic earpieces turn off and a series of focused audio speakers, positioned directly in front of each of the operator’s ears turn on. Radio/ICS comms are directly delivered to the operator’s ears with NOTHING IN, ON or OVER either ear. Focused audio is so secure, via radio volume control, that others around the wearer cannot hear the incoming voice transmissions. The REV-X’s focused audio speakers allow the wearer’s ears and surrounding head area to be ventilated while he/she can have personal situational and directional awareness of their surroundings.
