Three systems were developed:
Team Leaders – connected to a single radio to monitor activity and issue instructions.
Command / Overwatch – connected to two radios, allowing dual communication (RX/TX) with both ground operators and personnel stationed outside the conflict, such as in a command vehicle.
The Defender series of riot control products is available exclusively through our Master Riot Control / Mobile Field Force distributor: Public Order Solutions – www.publicordersolutions.com.

Pictured is the Defender Team Leader inner helmet-mount headset, featuring a speaker for receive (RX) audio and a noise-canceling boom microphone for transmit (TX).
Variants include:
The Line Operator system, which is listen-only and visually identical to the pictured version, but without the boom microphone.
The Command / Overwatch system, shown below, includes a second speaker mounted on the opposite inner side of the helmet. This system allows for dual comms between the wearer and line operators (issuing instruction) as well as a command post off-site.
Single speaker
Noise-canceling boom microphone
Single-comm push-to-talk (PTT) with radio volume control
2-pin direct connection to an Avon mask with internal microphone
This system can be configured for all law enforcement and military portable radios.
Dual helmet-mounted speakers to monitor two radio frequencies simultaneously
Noise-canceling boom microphone
Dual-comm PTT to communicate with both team leaders and line operators
Optional smartphone connectivity for a third comms channel
Compatible with Atlantic Signal’s Avon mask comms cable kit
Configurable for all law enforcement and military portable radios
The Defender speakers are specifically designed and fine-tuned to deliver clear, concise audio even in the loudest mobile field force environments.
Each Defender system includes 3M’s strongest military-grade interlocking mount, allowing components to be attached securely to the helmet’s interior (user-defined location) and the back of each Defender-mounted component. This provides robust retention, yet allows for removal during storage or emergency release if a cable is forcibly pulled by an assailant.
